INTRODUCTION

Malaysian Railway operates efficient and comfortable day and night services linking major towns in Peninsular Malaysia and connecting with trains to Bangkok.

The railway system in the West coast extends for 782 km north from Singapore to Butterworth and from Bukit Mertajam it continues to connect with the State Railway of Thailand at the border town of Padang Besar. The East coast line run 526 km north from Gemas to Tumpat and also connects with the Thai railway. There are express trains connecting Singapore and Butterworth and international express services between Butterworth and Bangkok.
