Rizhao Port |
The Port of Rizhao,
situated at the south end of Shandong Peninsula and
bordering on the Yellow Sea, is in the middle of
China's coastal area and is also a hub port for foreign
trade and for water borne and land transportation in
China. The Port was named as one of the Eastern
Bridgeheads of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge on
July 30th , 1995. The Port now has 18 productive berths
with a designed annual throughput capacity totalling
19.1 million tons. Among these berths, there are 2 coal
berth for vessels of 100,000 dwt, 8 general cargo
berths for vessels of over 10,000 dwt, one fuel oil
berth for vessels of 5,000 dwt, and 7 berths for
vessels of 500 to 5,000 dwt. the throughput in 1995 was
14.52 million tons.
During the period of the Eighth Five-Year Plan, works
of the second phase in East port area, including 5
deepwater general cargo berth for vessels of more than
10,000 dwt, were all completed and put into operation
while middle port area was rebuilt and expanded into 7
medium and small sized general cargo berths. The total
number of berths in the port was increased by 10 with
an increased annual throughput capacity of 2.64 million
tons. The total berth line was increased by 1557m.
