Zhanjiang Port |
The
Port of Zhanjiang, situated in Zhanjiang Bay of Leizhou
Peninsula in Guangdong Province, is a hub port for Southwest
China and the west region of South China. Being richly
endowed by natural conditions, 50,000 dwt vessels can
approach directly to the port facilities.
The
Port was built and put into service in 1956 and is now
composed of 4 cargo handling areas and one container
company. The Port now has 29 productive berths, among them
23 are for vessels of over 10,000 dwt. during the Eighth
Five-Year Plan period, the berths completed and put into
service include 5 berths for vessels of over 10,000 dwt in
the south of Area 1, which was part of the second-phase
works of Area 1, one general cargo berth for vessels of
5,000 dwt in the South Area 3 and one transshipment terminal
for vessels of 5,000 in Area 5 (other than that, one more
berth for vessels of 10,000 dwt and another one for vessels
of 5,000 dwt are still under construction). The designed
annual throughput capacity of the Port was increased by 2.43
million tons in the same period.
