Zhenjiang Port |
The
Port of Zhenjiang is located at the convergent
point of the Yangtze River with Jing-Hang
Grand Canal, which are the two golden
waterways in China. It has a unique advantage
of joint waterway, railway and highway
transportation. In 1995, the throughput of the
Port reached 16.32 million tons, which was the
3rd largest among the ports along the Yangtze
River and one of the hub ports in China. The
total length of the berth line of the Port is
65 km, composed of four port areas, namely
Gaozi, Zhenjiang, Jianbi and Dangang. Now
there are 45 productive berths, including 11
deepwater for vessels of 25,000 dwt, 6 berths
for vessels of 5,000 dwt, and 2 offshore buoy
berths for vessels of up to 360,000 square
meters.
During
the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, 4 deepwater
berths were built in Zhenjiang Port with an
increased total quay line of 1,189m long and
an increased annual throughput capacity of
4.74 million tons.
