Zhoushan Port |
The
Port of Zhoushan is situated at the estuary of
the Yangtze River, the Qiantangjiang River and
the Yongjiang River and is well sheltered with
no freezing and less situation. The port is an
important part of the port group in the Delta
of the Yangtze River and its valley. The port
presently has 153 berths, including one berth
for vessels of 250,000 dwt, four berths for
vessels ranging from 15,000 to 50,000 dwt and
12 berths for vessels ranging from 3,000 to
5,000 dwt. The throughput of the port in1995
was 10.05 million tons and more than 10 million
passengers passed through the port in 1995.
During the
period of the Eighth Five-Year Plan, 30 berths
of various sizes were built or rebuilt, among
them were three oil berths, one for 18,000 dwt
tankers, one for 50,000 dwt tankers and one
for 250,000 dwt tankers, and two coal berths,
one for 3,000 dwt vessels an done for 25,000
dwt vessels. The designed annual throughput
capacity was increased by 21.5 million tons.
