| INTRODUCTION
A lovely mountain resort in the
Western ghats. Situated on a mountain range, some 800 m
high is called Matheran. More of forest and less of
town climate cool and refreshing. A beautiful lake, is
over 30 viewing points around, keep one busy haunting
for and appreciating nature's creations all on foot or
on gorses, bak, Cars are not allowed beyond main
parking lot outside the town. Mathern is the nearest
hill resort from Mumbai. Get down at Neral station on
Mumbai-Pune Railroad. Start climbing up if young or
take a mini mountain train ride, an experience in
itself. A Motorable road but a bit risky.
