There
is abundant opportunities for participating in
Vietnam’s growing power sector. Largely fueled
by the increasing demand for electricity in the new
millenium, several projects including the Yaly, Song
Hinh and Ham Thuan-Da Mi hydro-electric projects
are in the pipeline. In addition, planned
development of new network supplies between Vietnam,
Laos and Cambodia augurs well for a continuous growth of
the power sector in Vietnam.
Total
foreign funding for the power industry in 1999 amounted
to US$299 million. This came from official
development assistant (ODA), World Bank, Asian
Development Bank (ADB) and Japan’s Overseas Economic
Cooperation Fund.
